Compassion International

Many Rejoice members sponsor children in impoverished areas around the world through Compassion International, a top-rated, faith-based international ministry. Compassion Sundays are held periodically when members can hear stories of the relationships built with sponsored children and have a chance to sign up to sponsor a child. Compassion International has been recognized throughout the world for its financial integrity and effective ministry among children.  Click here to visit Compassion International's website for more about their organization.

Following is a testimonial from one of our Rejoice members about her experience sponsoring a child through Compassion International:

"I'm Lucy Gruber and am 10 years old.  I first got interested in sponsoring a child when my Girl Scout troop decided to use our cookie sales money to sponsor a child from Africa for one year.  I thought this was such a neat idea so that following year for my 10th birthday I decided that instead of asking for presents from family and friends, I could ask for donations toward sponsoring a child from Kenya.  I actually ended up raising enough money to sponsor a child from Kenya for one and a half years.  Her name is Veronicah and she is from Kenya.  She has 5 brothers and sisters and lives with her mother and father in a village.  This whole experience impacted me a lot because sometimes when I wake up in the morning I feel like "oh, I don't want to go to school today" but Veronicah wakes up each morning and is excited to go to school because she gets to have a meal there and be a "kid" with other friends and learn a lot of new things.  Sometimes it's easy to take things for granted here in the United States so having Veronicah in my life has made me appreciate things here more.  Also, it has made an impact on my friends.  Several months after my birthday, my one friend Morgan had a huge lemonade stand and made enough money to sponsor a child for six months from Kenya.  One of the coolest things that I think about is that I go to Sunday School at Rejoice on Sunday mornings and because of the donations from my family and friends, Veronicah is going to Sunday School in Africa and we are worshiping the same God."
